Guru Shabad De Santis will teach a Gatka workshop at Yoga festival 2010. Gatka - Kundalini Yoga’s sister - is Sikh Dharma’s martial art. Gatka offers a wonderful opportunity to experience and balance the polarity of defense/ female and attack/male. Through the practice of Gatka, listening and speaking become - on a non-verbal level - defending and attacking, and communication becomes clear, timely and successful. The different weapons and the body movements, based on the figure eight or infinity symbol, develop a 360 degree field of view, in which attack and defense alternate effectively and gracefully. Guru Shabad De Santis, the first Kundalini Yoga and Gatka teacher in Italy, has been training teachers in both disciplines for over 30 years. Yogi Bhajan invited him to become Baba Nihal Singh’s direct Gatka student, and then introduced him personally to the Sword Therapy. At that time, Yogi Bhajan asked Guru Shabad for two twin swords (now kept with the Sikh Dharma treasures), and told him: “One sword will be mine and one will be yours. Each time you will heal by the use of the sword, I will be there with you”. For more info see Italian Federation of Gatka http://www.gatka.eu or reach us by e-mail at info@gatka.eu |
